What are U.S. students looking for?

What are U.S. students looking for when it comes to educational technology?

1) Mobility

Almost one third of the high school students and a quarter of middle school students surveyed said they own a smart phone.

2) They want a “a truly interactive learning experience" or "online environment" complete with educational games, simulations, links, and of course the ability to download all of this onto their smart phones.

What inspires you to want to really learn something?

We in the training/learning business have all kinds of ideas about learning styles, matching content to the objectives, meeting standards, improving test scores, receiving good evaluations, etc. What if we changed our focus to a new concept. What if our students walked away with a compelling desire to return to their homes/workplace and implement what they have learned and continue down the learning path.

Expanding Our Repertoire: Facts about Teaching and Learning

What is a rabbit's favorite music? Hip-hop! One of the best ways that people learn is through a basic method that my father taught me whilst l was a lad. That method has to to with fishing. If you want to catch a fish you need bait and depending on the kind of fish, the right kind of bait. This is true for learning. If you want your audience to listen, be captivated and have learning occur then the teacher needs to have the right "bait" for his/her audience.

How Meaningful Are Your Learning Evaluations?

Post-training evaluations are most effective when they ask specific, thoughtful questions relevant to the exercises and materials covered during the classes. As one training manager points out, it is unfair to expect valuable feedback from employees when they are supplied with a generic questionnaire form that fails to ask valuable and challenging questions.
